American Psychedelic

This is the second bodypainting I had done with Joe Green Photography. It was done at his studio in Boston just as "Asian Innocence" had. The model for this shoot was Maria "Mia-D" Dawson and the original concept was to recreate the psychedelic hippie from the 1968 bodypaint issue of playboy however when I first began airbrushing the yellow base coat on Maria, the color was just so transparently ugly that I stopped after only a few minutes and had her wash off so we could try another idea. I knew I wanted to do some type of psychedelic theme so I pulled out a red, white and blue bottle of pearlized bodypaint and chose to do an impromptu american flag theme based on what a hippie tripping on acid might see the flag as. The bodypainting went super quick as I was just a blur waiving my airbrush around, spraying stars and stripes anywhere I felt would work and boy did it ever and although the design wasn't what I had intended, I wouldn't change a thing because it turned out great.
